The Rutgers Scarlet Knights played their first intra-squad scrimmage yesterday, and the freshman proved they belong.

First of many freshman, Gary Nova had a very nice first day completing 12/23 for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also threw 2 interceptions.

"I thought Gary did some good things, especially early on he hit that double-move for a touchdown," coach Greg Schiano told The Star Ledger. "I'm sure a couple of those interceptions he would like to have back."

The 3rd quarterback on the depth chart, freshman Mike Bimonte, hit freshman Miles Shuler on a 69-yard strike down the sidlelines.

That wasn't all for Shuler as he returned a punt for 40 yards to the 5 yard line. Shuler has speed, and will definitely be fun to watch on special teams.

Top recruit from New Jersey and yet another freshman, Savon Huggins had 168 yards on the ground on 26 carries and a touchdown.

He was able to get more yardage after the first hit, showing his strength and power.

The defense? Obviously not so good, but they still have time to prove they can make plays. Maybe the Scarlett Knight offense is just way too good to stop?
