Rutgers four year lacrosse athlete Stephen Belichick wants to use his final year of his NCAA eligibility on being the long snapper for Coach Schiano.
Stephen is the son of New England Patriots' Head Coach Bill Belichick.
He will have to try our first but he definitely has a shot.
The 5'11" and 185 pound second year senior knows the game of football, with help from his football genius father. He always had thoughts of playing college football, but never went through with his plan until this season.
"He always wanted to play football," Schiano said, Tom Luicci reported from the Star Ledger. "Truth be told, when he was first starting (at Rutgers) he talked to me about trying to play football. We said 'Hey, look, you're here to play lacrosse. Get comfortable there.' For whatever reason it didn't work out and he came to me and said 'I'd like to do it this year.' "
Know one knows if Stephen has what it takes to play on the field, but no matter what, Stephen is knowledgeable about the game.
"Stephen has some aspirations for coaching and I think he wants to get re-acclimated to football. It will be fun to have him around. Whether he's the guy or not will be determined."
The Patriots have been scouting some players from Rutgers as they have gotten Devin McCourty and Alex Silvestro from Rutgers via Draft or Free Agency.
Good luck to Stephen, we'll see if he has what it takes!
